ST. LUKE'S LUTHERAN CHURCH, FORT ERIE (RIDGEWAY) ONTARIO
Sunday May 1st 2011 saw the culmination of two years of planning, hard work and prayer for the congregation which lost its 100 year old church building in a devastating fire. ELCIC National Bishop Susan Johnson, Synod Bishop Michael Pryse, Pastor Kevin J Baglole and Michael Doan officiated at the dedication. The only items which survived was a picture of the Good Shepherd and a beautiful stain glass which were restored. The very small 1960's Kney and Bright baroque electric action organ was also destroyed.
After serious searches, visits and meetings the church contracted Schmidt Piano & Organ Service in Kitchener Ontario Canada in summer of 2010 to install the first Viscount Physis Unico series Organ console in Eastern Canada, build a Schmidt Classique custom Organ Sound System of 52 speakers, 2 pipe facades, and a carillon. The company also received the contract for the audio sound system for music and the spoken word. The organ console is Model CL-6 AGO in Dark Oak with custom wooden keyboards and console trim. Viscount Physis Unico organs are not digital sampled instruments but use Viscount's patented Pipe Modeling technology. Organist and Music Director is Dr Peter Landey from the Music Faculty at Brock University in St Catherines Ontario.
Schmidt Piano and Organ Service custom woodworking shop was able to work closely with Shoaltes Contracting of Fenwick to build and match to the beautiful oak woodwork built by the contractors. The Carillon system operates separately and can play different types of bells and carillons.
Special thanks to Michael Doan, Dr Peter Landey, Carlton Rusch, the congregation, and Peter Storer of PAS Video Productions and our staff.
